SAGE and the British Association for Adoption & Fostering today announced a new agreement to publish BAAF's journal, Adoption & Fostering, from 2013
London, UK (June 07, 2012) SAGE and the British Association for Adoption & Fostering (BAAF) today announced a new agreement to publish BAAF's journal, Adoption & Fostering, from 2013.
Published quarterly and edited by Roger Bullock (Fellow, Centre for Social Policy, The Social Research Unit at Dartington, UK), Adoption & Fostering has been at the cutting edge of debate on childcare issues for over 50 years. It is the only UK journal dedicated to adoption and fostering issues, providing an international forum for academics and practitioners in social work, psychology, law, medicine, training, and caring. As the official journal of BAAF, the UK's leading adoption and fostering membership association, the journal supports BAAF's aims of promoting the highest standards of practice in adoption, fostering and childcare services to increase public understanding of the issues and to act as an independent voice for children, informing and influencing policy-makers, all those responsible for children and young people and public opinion at large.
"We are delighted to have been selected by BAAF to publish their prestigious journal," said Karen Phillips, Editorial Director, SAGE. "As a leading publisher in the social sciences, we have a long-established and highly regarded programme of books and journals across social work and social care. We see Adoption & Fostering as a key forum for discussion and look forward to supporting the journal's ongoing development."
The first SAGE issue will publish in Spring 2013, available from the SAGE Journals platform.
"BAAF is excited and optimistic about the benefits that our new partnership with SAGE will bring not only to Adoption & Fostering journal but also to the work of our organisation as a whole," said Shaila Shah, BAAF Director of Publications. "By extending access to the latest research and practice findings to carers, social workers, researchers and other professionals across the globe, this new arrangement will hopefully contribute significantly to improving the lives of children unable to remain with their birth families wherever they may be."
